Reward System for My Kids

How do you motivate your kids to follow rules and behave nicely? LOL. I am asking as if there’s an easy way to do that. Parenting really is the most challenging job one can get into, especially these age when kids are “different” from our (mine specifically) era. During my time, kids are to be seen only and not to be heard. But these days, kids are encouraged to talk. They are even encouraged to talk even though they are still in their mother’s womb. Can you believe that? And so, the cliche that says kids are to be seen only and not to be heard is already an –well — an old school. So how do we teach our kids to obey us if we also let them air out … Read entire article »

Valentine’s Day Gift

It’s already January 28 and in a few days time, it’s going to be February, a love month. So have you thought of what to give your loved ones for a Valentine’s day gift? I thought of going for that body therapy promo I found online, available for couples. They have a promo so it’s kinda cheap. The only setback is… can we find time to leave the kids and go for this one? I also dun wanna disturb my in-laws as my mum-in-law frequents hospitals for checks up. Maybe, I could come up with tangible things. Of course, I am hoping to get tangible gift too. What about diamond tennis bracelet ? Hehehe. You know I can be wishful thinker sometimes. But hey, if he can afford it, why not? But … Read entire article »

Why Do You Sing?

One day, my son asked me: Mommy, why do you always sing? Other people don’t do that. You sing when you walk. You sing when you work. You sing when you cook. That made me realize… oh yeah… he’s right. My son is so observant. Not a lot of people in Malaysia do that. I guess it’s a cultural thing. Filipinos naturally love to sing. We love music. We love to dance. And while I was working today, I played my yahoo itunes music. And thought, probably, it would be great to have one of those karaoke machines in the house. I could probably use it as a breather to de-stress myself. Hmmm… but then again… would I really take time to sing using a Karaoke? That’s the question.I don’t even watch a local … Read entire article »

Cool Weather

We’ve been having a cool weather for a couple of weeks now that we don’t always have to turn on our air con. At night, we let the air con run for a few hours and we turn it off. But it’s still feels cold. And no, I am not complaining. I am loving a cold weather. It hasn’t been raining though. I wonder why. Last month had been raining like almost everyday that I almost wanna buy women’s rain boots . Although the rain has stopped, I guess eventually, I would need to buy one, especially that I walk to Samantha’s school to send her there and pick her up. For now, I am just enjoying the cool weather. … Read entire article »

Insomniac Nights

There are just days (or nights rather) when I really have a hard time sleeping, and the worst part is, I really can’t figure out what I did in the day that makes it hard for me to sleep at night. I usually try drinking a glass of warm milk and play a soft mellow music to capture that sleepy mood in me, and it works – sometimes. But there are also times when it does not and these are the nights when I wish I always have a stock of sleep aids in my medicine cabinet. I am not really the type of person who likes to use them all the time but you never know when it might come in handy. And of course, it is always best to … Read entire article »

The Hobbit

I read The Hobbit after watching The Lord of the Rings – Fellowship of the Rings last December 2001. I had my friend from the US send me the four books of J.R.R. Tolkien (The Lord of the Rings – trilogy and The Hobbit). The Hobbit basically is the introduction of the trilogy. The story will get you through how Bilbo Baggins found the ring… or more like how Smeagol (who became Gollum), took the ring from his cousing, who found the ring at the riverbed… the one ring that would rule them all. I have written my reviews and reflections of The Lord of the Rings before. I just need to look where I posted it. Hehehe. I have read that Peter Jackson, along with Del Toro, are going to make … Read entire article »

I Love Ikea

My husband and I went to visit Ikea on our birthday. We were planning to have breakfast there but we left the house late so we had lunch there instead. It has been a long time since I didn’t go to Ikea and didn’t have a meal there. And so I noticed that their Swedish meatballs were now smaller. I remember last time, I had to cut the meatballs in two just so it could fit inside my mouth nicely. But this time, it could fit nicely without me cutting it in half. Or probably my mouth got bigger? LOL. After our lunch we headed towards the showroom. Ohh… I love it there so much. They give you different kinds of ideas on how to design every corner of … Read entire article »

Tangled, Rapunzel

My husband and I took our 4-year old girl to a movie last month. We watched the Tangled, Rapunzel. She loved the movie so much. I did too. I especially loved the part where Rapunzel and Eugene (Aka Lynn Rider), on the boat to watch the lantern festival. It gave me such goosebumps. And so I bought a DVD of the movie the other week so we can watch it again. There was a part where Rapunzel was crying and to my amusement, I saw Samantha crying too. And she said, Mommy, that crying part makes my tears fall down, too. Hahahaha. She’s indeed a girl. It’s the first time I saw her crying by just watching a movie. I don’t usually cry when I watch movies (okay, I guess there was twice … Read entire article »

Men’s Gift

One of the first things that I bought for my husband as a gift was a neck tie. Ever since then, I have been buying him ties and skinny ties would be one of them. My husband has already have a lot of ties now. I don’t even know where some of them are now. Today, when I was shopping for our groceries, I saw in the kitchen and bedroom stuff corner this tie hanger and thought it would be the best thing to use to organize my husband’s ties. And so I bought it. It’s a wooden tie hanger and not so expensive. So I’m quite happy with my purchase. And oh, about the tie… my husband’s favorite tie now is the first tie I gave him. … Read entire article »

The Zahir

I am currently reading The Zahir, a book by Paulo Coelho. This is the third book of Paulo’s that I’ve been reading. The first one was Flow Like a River – something like that – Thoughts and Reflections by Paulo Coelho. Basically, it’s just a compilation of short stories he has encountered or heard from others, his thoughts and reflections. The second one I read was The Alchemist. Will have to write a review about that book later. For The Zahir, I’m still on chapter one. This book is a story about Esther, his 4th wife, that is suddenly missing. He was under suspicion of her disappearance so he was detained. But his wife’s friend, who he slept with the night his wife disappeared, bailed him out. Now he is recollecting Esther’s story. Will get back … Read entire article »
