The Hobbit

I read The Hobbit after watching The Lord of the Rings – Fellowship of the Rings last December 2001. I had my friend from the US send me the four books of J.R.R. Tolkien (The Lord of the Rings – trilogy and The Hobbit). The Hobbit basically is the introduction of the trilogy. The story will get you through how Bilbo Baggins found the ring… or more like how Smeagol (who became Gollum), took the ring from his cousing, who found the ring at the riverbed… the one ring that would rule them all. I have written my reviews and reflections of The Lord of the Rings before. I just need to look where I posted it. Hehehe. I have read that Peter Jackson, along with Del Toro, are going to make … Read entire article »

The Zahir

I am currently reading The Zahir, a book by Paulo Coelho. This is the third book of Paulo’s that I’ve been reading. The first one was Flow Like a River – something like that – Thoughts and Reflections by Paulo Coelho. Basically, it’s just a compilation of short stories he has encountered or heard from others, his thoughts and reflections. The second one I read was The Alchemist. Will have to write a review about that book later. For The Zahir, I’m still on chapter one. This book is a story about Esther, his 4th wife, that is suddenly missing. He was under suspicion of her disappearance so he was detained. But his wife’s friend, who he slept with the night his wife disappeared, bailed him out. Now he is recollecting Esther’s story. Will get back … Read entire article »

Elegance

I just finished another book entitled Elegance by Kathleen Tessaro. It’s actually a novel. But the writer’s writing style is inspired by Elegance, a book by Genevieve Antoine Dariaux. The Elegance by GAD was a guiding inspiration for this book. It’s a story of an American woman, Louise Cannova living in England. Recently divorced, she just realizes that after being mistaken as pregnant, she has to do something about it. And she picks up a book by Genevieve Antoine Dariaux and it became her guideline with her pursuit of getting elegant. Genevieve apparently wrote fashion tips from A-Z. The flow of the story goes with that. Louise religiously follows the tips. She painstakingly goes to the gym, changed her diet (and if i was the author, i would throw in her popping … Read entire article »

My Sister's Keeper – Jodi Picoult

I have been wanting to read this novel – My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult. But since I still have a line up, I haven’t got time to pick it up yet. I am quite surprised to know that they made a movie out of it. I checked the movie trailer online and it looks quite interesting. So I am adding My Sister’s Keeper in my wish list of books to read. But for now, here’s the movie trailer: [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmMn1PgH3vA&hl=en&fs=1&] … Read entire article »

But we have 8 more months to wait. It’s a long time to wait, don’t you think so? And yes, Dakota Fanning is acting Jane’s character in New Moon. I think she’s the best person to do it.
