Kids Playground

We had a guest from India yesterday and we were talking about his kids and that he said they live in a small village so the kids get to be on the street playing after school. These days, when you hear kids playing at the street, it’s sort of like a luxury and hard to achieve. I try very hard for my kids to play at the playground in front of the house. But we don’t do regularly. We just can’t. It just reminded me when I saw at PlaytimeUS.com childrens playground equipment that really, children need to play. With increasing technology development, we can’t help but introduce kids to digital games. Hopefully, I’ll be able to strike balance between playing ooutdoors and digital games for my kids. … Read entire article »

Go for Gold

I am not an entrepreneur but from time to time I would be thinking about what would be good investments these days. I really don’t have that much to purchase a property or a piece of land yet, but I was thinking if to buy gold coins at Golden Eagle would be a good investment. With the dollar rate constantly fluctuating, gold’s value would appreciate over time. Well, if I do collect and buy gold, I don’t have intentions of entering a business. For starters, it could just start out as a hubby and over time, you don’t know that you could actually get into good business. Sounds like a good idea, don’t you think so? … Read entire article »

Valentine’s Day Gift for Myself

Malls and shops are now filled with heart-shaped balloons and decors. In case you have forgotten, it’s almost Valentine ’s Day! I would not be surprised if fancy restaurants are already fully booked by this time of the month as couples have made reservations already for their date nights. Hubby and I have not planned anything out yet, but I really don’t mind if we will just stay at home and enjoy a special dinner. Of course it would also be great if we would eat out. Whatever. We will figure that out. As to giving gifts, I have not thought of anything yet, but I hope to use those bath & body works coupons to get myself gifts to pamper myself with! … Read entire article »

My First Pay Check

Last week, I got my first pay check after a million years of not getting any. The past ten years has been a stay-at-home thingy for me. I don’t have any complains though. My kids are now more independent and thought I already could go out and start working again. I am glad because I really need to pay my debt. LOL. But I guess for two months of working, I’ll be able to pay off everything… I hope. Going back to work for me is a real blessing. I thank God that the opportunity to do so just came knocking on my door. Otherwise, I would have just been staying at home. I am glad that through this, I could be a blessing also. Indeed, we are blessed to be … Read entire article »

Miss Gardening

One thing that I like about this house we are living in now is that it has a yard. Personally I think that having a yard is best especially if you have growing kids. Just watching them enjoying the lawn and even bathe in the rain brings back good memories of my childhood. Our yard was not that big, but we were able to play with our heart’s content, we climbed trees, played hide and seek, and that yard was a witness to my simple but very happy childhood. I used to garden a lot, too but now that I don’t have much time, I just see to it that the plants and flowers are watered in the morning. I also make sure that we have a compost bin and teach … Read entire article »

Best Birthday Ever

Hubby and I share the same birthdates. I don’t believe in horoscope but some friends who do would tell us that’s the reason why we have such a happy marriage. Having the same birthday with the hubbs has lots of advantages. One of which is that we could just go out on a quiet date and enjoy our day together. This year, however, I attempted to do something different. I surprised my man with a birthday party two days before our actual birthdays! When I think about how nervous I was while planning for it, I can’t help but smile to myself. With the help of great friends, the surprise was a huge success—and nothing compares to seeing my man so happy. For our actual birthdays, we did not get any … Read entire article »

Teaching in Thailand

I have so many friends working in Thailand as English teachers. It’s fun listening to stories of their teaching experiences, and how they have picked up so many Thai words over the years from students and local co-teachers. Although they have been hired by schools to teach the English language, they have to learn basic Thai in order to get around the city where they work at. I have not heard of any Filipino working in Admissions Registration Clerk Jobs, since most of the documents are written in Thai, anyway. Most of these friends of mine work at local Thai schools, but there should be Filipinos working as clerks in International schools, but none that I know of. … Read entire article »

Love Affair with Cars

Men’s love affair with cars is undeniable. Some men are pretty obsessed with their four-wheels or two-wheels at that, they love it to bits that they even spend more for their cars than for their wives or partners. They accessorize it, prettify it and even show it off proudly to friends. But some men on the other hand are better off sporting their collection of plastic model car kits, which are smaller and cheaper than the real ones obviously. Even young little boys would delight at toy cars, especially those remote controlled ones. Owning cars (the real ones) can symbolize masculinity and authority and even power, that is why men will always want to have a car of his own and will do whatever it takes just to get and … Read entire article »

Cigars

Nobody knows how cigars started, there were no written or even oral evidence that it started somewhere. Christopher Columbus, however, was the first one to introduce it to Europe and because of the European conquests, it spread through America and also Asia. Today, not many smoke cigars, because it is highly expensive and there is an alternative which is the cigarette. There are rich men who find cigars really good, it is a way of relaxation: talking to friends over a glass of wine and a good cigar. I hope they are also interested with the history of cigars and maybe one day, one of them will sponsor for an extensive cigar history research. … Read entire article »

The Move-Out

Hubby’s office had to be transferred someplace else. I mean, it’s still within the city, but a bit farther than his last one. It was practical that we find another building for him to have his office in and we are glad that we have transported much of the stuff in two days. What a way to welcome December! We are looking forward to Christmas, so working hard on the moveout was necessary before the holidays. I am still not sure about the specifics of Christmas dinner or new year’s eve… but for sure it will be spent with family which I love the most. Speaking of Christmas dinner, tradition has it that we would open gifts on that night, right? I hope to get a gold bars … Read entire article »
